Wtf?....
Seriously, even box camping was luck. At one of the many events were the Races ran, I did a couple of races with one of the top 100 guys, and of course he box-camped. However, if he didn't get echo then SRB, he would quit. Just outright quit, because he knew he couldn't win. Because of luck.
This race always was determined by luck. Some skill, yes, but that skill isn't going to get you into the top 100. Luck will.

Fishing in Zelda was awesome, i think id prefer it over racing :P
The only reason people are taking the racing seriously is the mini, without the mini it would just be like the dragon arena.
Im not sure how the ladder will look, but i do know that the times will be a lot more about ping than before, especially with the really bad rubber banding being boosted by event lag.

Think of it this way: without the boxes, what would you do? You wouldn't stop moving. Box camping allows you to sit on the box until you get exactly what you want that can eventually power you from last place to first.
It's a broken concept, and although I've exploited it enough times to get easy Gamer Points, I'm glad it's fixed.

I mean, like it is the "skill" that got him his Arcane Echo - Superrollerbeetle.
There is SOME skill involved, but it's 80% Luck (Random, I know )
You CAN'T control what you get. You CAN'T control lagg. You CAN'T control enemy players screwing you over...
You can control a few things however. Putting a shield up in time, using speed buff at good times...

Now people that aren't very good can beat the best racers just because they got lucky and got a super, while the better player didn't.
Also, although this doesn't apply to most people, I will not have any defense against people that kd me jsut because of my high scores. Before I was usually able to still win, but now it will be nearly impossible.

The reason the top players were on top (for a large percentage of them) was because they went into International Districts and sync-loaded together, controlling the game. Those that weren't on their team faced a solid wall of organized shutdown while the pre-chosen victor flew through unopposed. A measure of those high times came down to luck with the boxes and (of course; a requirement for winning) player skill. But much of the score times people drooled to achieve came from good old fashioned sync-load exploit at non-peek times to prevent gatecrashers.
Thats how many--most?--of the best times were gotten in RB racing year 1. So...please. Less with the drama. We're not that "other" forum; we know how this stuff works.

Not all the high scorers quit like that. I don't, because I know that even if it takes me 20 seconds to get teh super and echo, i will probably still win.

This is defnitely not true. I know most of the other top high scorers, and none of us sync in. We just know how to race. Syncing in does not help at all really. If you need to sync in, you obivously don't even know how to get a top score anyways.

I agree that getting the high score IS luck. However, an average racer with the same luck as me would not get on the high scores. Even with bad luck, i usually still win the race.

Pro tip: You're wrong, i remember vividly a 100+ page thread last year about people QQing because they found out 90% of the top people all synced in and cheated.

That is obviously a rumour, or just used by a few people. Syncing does not even help you much at all. I do not sync, and ive ranced the other top racers in races several times, so obviously they don't sync either. The only advantage I could see to syncing would be to make sure you don't get kded in the begining, which, by the time you acutually sync in with ur team, would be not it. And btw, you race people in american districts when playing in international. ]
If anyone was acutually able to get a high score THEY WOULD NOT NEED TO SYNC. The people that sync are the ones who acutally think it will help them get on the high scores.

Pro tip: Still wrong, they would all synch in and if someone who wasn't suppose to be there was there the others who weeren't going for their time would all body block the guy so he couldnt interfer then the guy was free to get a good time.

Like I said before, you acutally ened skill to get a high score. EVen if you had no one kding you, it doesn't mean your going to get a high score. Syncing in does not help very much in getting a high score. Like I said before, if you know how to get a high score, syncing is basicly pointless.

No KDs from synched players + luck + knowing where to use the echo rollerbeetle = top score. The only thing in that equation you could argue as being "skill" is knowing when to use the rollerbeetle, but that's just learning it and doing it. Here's the irony: If you have to think too much about what you're doing (read: anything requiring actual skill), you're doing too much other stuff and not enough super roller-beetleing to get a top score.
Now maybe the top 100 will be more of a crapshoot that boils down to who gets the lucky 5 roller beetles in a row, but for everyone else, the game is now more about skillful racing, and less about desperately racing for the finish before the box camper finds his combo >_>

They should have left box camping possible in the game, but made the report function useable for leavers and campers.
I would have loved the threads popping up then.
